InPore Launches New Website

InPore Technologies’ new, more informative website will be launched at http://www.inpore.com. The website includes useful data about flame retardant and mechanical properties for Silapore™ mesoporous silicate particles which the company is commercializing. In addition, the new website explains target markets and applications and provides information helpful to potential investors.
Flame retardantcy for the plastics industry has been the primary focus for InPore Technologies. Currently, regulations in Europe and some states in the USA are restricting the use of commonly used flame retardant materials, specifically, decaBDE, or decabrom, which poses risks to human health and to the environment. Silapore particles are being investigated as a flame retardant material, for stand-alone applications or in combination with other flame retardants, to provide the market with effective alternatives to decaBDE. Silapore particles have demonstrated excellent char forming characteristics in Cone Calorimetry testing and are being evaluated by producers of plastic resin compounds.
InPore Technologies is a startup company based in Lansing, Michigan. The Company is a Michigan State University spinout and has exclusive, worldwide rights to a portfolio of more than 40 patents developed by the creator of Silapore particles, Dr. Thomas Pinnavaia.
The Company’s technology has benefited from several million dollars of Michigan State University re-search support. More recently, InPore Technologies has been awarded $2.2M in SBIR support, has received $200k in grants from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), and was awarded a $250K subordinated debenture investment from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (Michigan Pre-Seed Fund). In addition, the Company has closed an angel investment round.
